Always believing that we are rooted to live when we are rooted in Christ, we want to bring Jesus to people and people to Him.
We believe that a thriving church brings the solution for all life’s challenges to the world. This solution is the grace of God extended to humanity through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
As founders of this church, Past. Norman and Gerda Clack both have a passion to see the lost saved and the church flourishing.
Past. Norman and Gerda Clack planted Cedarhill Christian Church in 2008 with a core group of 8 people that has since grown to several hundred in regular attendance. The church started in a fully functional marionette theatre located in an historic home in Westcliff, Johannesburg. From the beginning, the church belonged to the International Federation of Christian Churches (IFCC).
In 2009 the church moved to a school hall in the Melville and Westdene area, finally making the transition to the West Rand in 2010. Most of our members already lived in the West Rand and we started services in the Silverstar Centre, Muldersdrift, on 10 January 2010.
During 2010 and 2011 the IFCC underwent structural changes, and within this structure we became affiliated with the Rhema Family of Churches. Since Past. Norman received his ministerial training from the Rhema Bible Training Centre in Randburg (1999-2001) and has always had strong roots in Rhema, this was a natural move for us.
In light of this new affiliation, our name was officially changed to Rhema West Christian Church in January 2012.
We remain an autonomous church and are not a satellite campus or extension service of Rhema North.
Past. Norman Clack started his ministerial training and involvement in 1995. He completed his formal training at the Rhema Bible Training Centre in Randburg in 2001. He had the privilege to be on staff and involved in a leadership capacity over a spectrum of mainline denominational as well as some non-denominational churches in South Africa over the past 19 years.
In his final year at RBTC he met Gerda, a Business Communication graduate from the North West University, and they were married in 2002. Joining their love for Christ and passion for the church, they’ve been in ministry together since then. Most of all they enjoy raising their three children, Carla (8), Jeshurun (5) and Jonathan (4).
By the end of 2007 Past. Norman felt specifically led by the Lord to plant a church. He and Gerda poured their collective experience in ministry into the venture and planted Cedarhill Christian Church in January 2008. They currently serve as the founding pastors of Rhema West Christian Church in the West Rand. (See our history above.)
Visionary leadership of the church rests on the shoulders of our elders. Currently our elders are Past. Norman and Gerda Clack as well as Rian and Marietjie Pienaar.
We also have zone leaders to assist with the pastoral care of congregants. They are involved in a volunteer capacity. Current zone leaders are Rian and Marietjie Pienaar, Corrie and Dora Crous, Joshua and Katlego Moagi and Gareth and Veronique Jordaan.
