Pretoria – Moral regeneration, corruption, crime and orphans were discussed at a meeting between President Jacob Zuma and the national Interfaith Leadership Council on Tuesday.
Speaking in Pretoria, Zuma said the meeting had been “very successful” with good synergy. “We think we need a united formation of religious leaders working with government.
“He said he felt the ILC – formed in July this year from leaders of all religions and spiritual groups – could play a positive role in addressing the many issues that confronted the country, including corruption.”Fighting corruption cannot be the task of government alone,” Zuma said.
National chair of the council, Ray McCauley, said religious counsellors needed to work in rural communities and at grassroots levels in order to achieve success.
